Year 9 Tour

The annual Year 9 Capricorn Tour is a highlight for our Middle School students and the 2021 cohort enjoyed a memorable experience at the end of Term 3. The Year 9 students and several staff members recounted experiences that changed their lives in many different ways. Visiting historical, cultural, Indigenous and tourist attractions in Carnarvon Gorge, Longreach and the Capricorn Coast, the students had a jam-packed 200 plus hours of activities.

The students took everything in their stride, from learning about their abilities to interpersonal relationships and needing to deal with obstacles and challenges placed in front of them to gain personal experience. The result was a more unified cohort and a valuable learning opportunity for all students.

Some of the highlights included going to the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame, The QANTAS Founders Museum, a guided tour of a working station in Longreach, and of course, Great Keppel Island. One memorable experience for the students was overcoming early starts to the day and physically demanding activities.

Congratulations to all students involved, and a special thank you to the teaching staff who gratefully gave up a substantial amount of time for this experience. The Year 9 Tour grows from strength to strength annually, and we hope that all current Year 8 students will attend this unique experience in 2022.
