The annual Year 9 Tour is one of the most highly anticipated events on the Middle School calendar. Each year our Year 9 students are given the opportunity to embark on a memorable adventure exploring the breathtaking Capricorn Coast region. Designed to develop teamwork, build personal skills, and strengthen friendships, the tour also provides an immersive educational experience where culture, history and the environment come together.
This year, our students explored Carnarvon Gorge, Longreach, Yeppoon and Great Keppel Island as part of their 10-day adventure. Visiting significant tourist locations as well as Indigenous sites, the students enthusiastically participated in a variety of action-packed challenges that required endurance, teamwork, patience and co-operation.
Some highlights of the tour included hikes with magnificent, yet challenging, scenery; engaging in traditional dance and activities; visiting the QANTAS Founders Museum with a spectacular sound and light show; visiting the iconic Stockman’s Hall of Fame; touring through a working sheep and cattle station which once hosted Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip; strolling through the Rockhampton Zoo and Botanical Gardens; sightseeing through National Parks and caves; and playing in the water and sand on Great Keppel Island.
Congratulations to all students who participated in the tour this year. A special thank you to the teachers and staff who dedicated their valuable time to making this an incredibly memorable experience for the cohort.
