Year 6 Beach Safety Program

Our Year 6 cohort recently participated in Surf Life Savings Queensland's Practical Beach Program. The students travelled to Broadbeach SLSC and participated in a series of activities promoting surf safety awareness.

Led by expert surf lifesavers, students learned key aspects of surf negotiation, practised wading, dolphin diving, and body surfing. They also had the opportunity to use Nipper boards, body boards and took part in tube rescues. Students were also educated in CPR and basic first aid.

The excursion was an excellent opportunity and an empowering way to learn first hand how to make educated decisions when swimming at the beach.
