Creations Come Alive at the Year 5 Volume Zoo!

Our Year 5 students recently enjoyed expanding their mathematics studies on measurement at the exhilarating Volume Zoo challenge. In this hands-on project, the students compiled their creativity and mathematical skills with a dash of animal inspiration to dive deep into concepts of length, perimeter, area, and volume. Working in small groups, they crafted creative animal designs using boxes in the shape of rectangular prisms and unleashed their imaginations to construct their very own creatures. Equipped with measuring tools, formulas, and units, these young mathematicians then calculated the total volume of their masterpieces!

Their creations were proudly put on show to the school community at the Volume Zoo exhibition. Visitors were invited along to witness the animals ‘come to life’ and engage with interactive elements including quizzes and hands-on games.
