Today we welcomed back our students and families to the first day of the 2022 school year. It was an honour to also welcome 126 new students and their families into our community.
The road to the first day of Term 1 has certainly had its challenges and I would like to extend a very special thank you to all parents and staff for your support and patience as we navigated the many detours put before us. With the delayed start to the new year, the College will utilise the Pupil Free Days on the 2022 calendar to support the learning journey of our students. This means that the following days are now allocated to on campus learning:
The first few weeks of term will see the College community adjust to the ongoing impact of the Covid pandemic. To ensure the safety and wellbeing of our students, staff and their families, I ask that all community members support the protocols we have put in place. Last week, families received an email detailing the procedures for students that present as unwell and requiring testing. Please keep this guide handy and refer to it if your child or children display any symptoms. Parents and visitors are also asked to limit their time on campus, wear a mask when on College grounds and ensure social distancing is adhered to.
As communicated prior to the start of term, events and activities will be postponed until a new directive is issued by Queensland Health. The College calendar is updated regularly and provides an excellent resource to stay updated. We are very excited that our interschool sporting competition will commence, and I am sure that our students are eager to participate.
The first day of a school year is always a special memory and it was a delight to see all students from our new cohort of Kindy students to our senior students excited and ready to catch up with friends and commence face-to-face learning. I hope that you enjoy a small glimpse of Day 1 at Rivermount.
