Secondary Students Make a Play at the eSports Rocket League Tournament

QUT’s High School program provides students the opportunity to participate in eSports initiatives, gain broadcast production experience and an awareness for online wellbeing and safety. As part of the program, Rivermount students were invited to attend a recent eSports Rocket League Tournament at QUT’s campus. Mentored by eSports professionals in QUT’s eSports arena and production facilities, four eager students from Year 8 and Year 9 took up the challenge.

The students competed as players and in eSports industry roles such as livestreaming and commentating. They also engaged in coaching sessions with high-ranked Rocket League players before putting their new knowledge to the test in training sessions. Our participants performed very well winning two of their three matches. They are looking forward to taking on the competition again next year.
