Students from Kindy to Year 6 recently enjoyed a performance of a traditional Japanese folktale called 'Omusubi Kororin' (the Rolling Riceballs), showcasing Japanese culture and teaching students to make mochi rice cakes. The show was performed by accomplished musician and storyteller Anne Norman.
As part of the interactive performance, several students joined Anne on stage to assist with percussion sound effects for her storytelling, with all students joining together to learn a song.
The incursion was an exciting opportunity for our Primary students to deepen their understanding of the story's traditional cultural elements and to explore these further in follow-up Japanese lessons.
