Participants from the Rivermount College Award Centre recently completed a mountain bike journey to prepare for their qualifying expedition on the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail later in the month. The adventure provided the group an opportunity to learn basic mountain bike maintenance, how to navigate the route, how to ride safely as a group, and how to negotiate and identify hazards. The cyclists tackled elements of the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail and, on the final day, they completed a 48-kilometre return journey on the newly-opened Northern Rivers Rail Trail.
From rider and mechanic support to team building, medical and general supervision, this endeavour was supported entirely by a small group of dedicated volunteers. We extend our sincere thanks to the people involved for their help and assistance. Best of luck to all of the participants for your qualifying event.
