Duke of Edinburgh Award | Gold and Silver Qualifying Journey: October 2024

Eleven dedicated students from the College’s Duke of Edinburgh Awards program triumphantly contested the elements on a journey through the Sunshine Coast as part of their recent Gold and Silver Awards practice.

Commencing at Boren Point, the group kayaked, hiked and camped under the stars as they made their way along the three-day course. Taking in picturesque sights, the adventurers paddled through the Everglades to the Cooloola Sandpatch, where they were rewarded for their 12-kilometre walk with a stunning dessert-like landscape before heading back to camp at Harry’s Hut.

Congratulations to the participants, all of whom demonstrated their resilience and self-reliance over the journey to combat some strong winds, choppy conditions and hot weather.
