Australia's toughest endurance event, the Gold Coast Kokoda Challenge recently attracted a group of passionate and determined College staff and students. Five teams from Rivermount College participated in the event, with three teams completing the 18km and two completing the 48km.
The popular endurance event combines physically and mentally challenging goals with the opportunity to raise funds for the Kokoda Youth Foundation; an organisation committed to changing the lives of local teens in the community.
For 39 hours our College teams traversed rocks, fallen trees, hanging branches, sand and creeks, reaching elevations of over 4000 metres. Despite the cold weather and the exhaustion, students kept calm and continued to work as a team, encouraging and supporting each other with every step.
Together the teams successfully raised over $3000.00 for the Kokoda Youth Foundation, with our top fundraiser Taylor Broomfield raising $1125.
Congratulations to all staff and students that participated, and we look forward to the 2023 challenge.
